TRAVELS WITH CHARLEY
"A journey is a person itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us."
—John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley: In Search of America
Okay there's no Charley, but it is kind of like the Steinbeck novel. This is going to be our home as we drive from Seattle to New Orleans—me, my husband, our cat and our duck.
Normally we fly south, but this trip is meant for gathering reference material. I have picked out signs along our planned route to take pictures of. And if all goes well, this reference material will turn into paintings for three big shows next year: March at Museo, May at Taste inside SAM, and fall at SAM Gallery.
Once in New Orleans we'll be back in the Irish Channel—working a lot, riding bikes, visiting friends and welcoming Mardi Gras season. I even get to be part of Muses again this year :)
You can follow us on the road here on the blog and through Facebook and Instagram.
Wish us luck!
