Lightning
In the early morning hours of August 14th ( about 3:30 am to be more precise ) a lightning storm started rolling through Seattle. Later in the day the city would count over 500 lightning strikes within a one-hour period, over 3,000 power outages, and over 1.2 inches of rain in one day—an amazing amount of rain for Seattle no matter what people say.
Our power never went out so the storm was quite enjoyable to paint to. On the other side of our mountains, however, over 700 forest fires have been started by lightning. The smoke from the fires in eastern Washington has even made its way across the Cascades and filled the air in Seattle.
