BLACK

I love black and have the closet to prove it, but no matter how black an area of my painting may look it's never just black. No black from a tube unless I am painting the edge of my canvas. Black from a tube is flat and has no depth. No dimension. I like to build up layers of warm and cool colors that deepen as I go.

In the example of my still life "sockets", I used only four colors to paint this whole thing —and none them were black.
