SUMMER IN THE PNW
There isn’t really any other place as nice as the Pacific Northwest in the summer. Usually. The days are long and the weather is warm and the skies are blue. During the summer days we all like to spend time down at Kye’s house—a place we call Chico.
This August we got a special treat. Two deer came into the yard, roamed around, and kept on traveling through to the neighbors. We can only guess they walked the beach while the tide was low because this is quite the rarity. Pretty much a unicorn. They were only here a couple days, but it was so cool.
When we’re over at Chico I bring along my paints and set up a make shift studio. My work space is small, but you can’t beat the view!
Then there’s crabbing season. I don’t like crabs, but my husband does. He and Jeff got so many this year they couldn’t even eat them all. The event of it all takes all day. Wake up early. Get the little boat ready. Load it with pots, bait and coolers. Get your sunscreen and hat. Launch the boat and then drop the pots.
Wait. Wait. Wait.
Go pull the pots and hopefully something is inside. Pull the boat and wash it. Put away the gear. Start the water boiling, and probably crack a beer.
