“A Visual Vernacular” is a collection of paintings of signs that mostly illustrate what they are promoting. A flame, a coffee cup, a moon, a playing card —all examples of a visual language created by the sign maker. For this collection I revisited some of my favorite signs as samples of this kind of portraiture.
