BATON ROUGE

I never expected to spend any time in Baton Rouge, but over the last 14 days we've made 3 trips to the LSU campus to visit the veterinary school for Gus. I cannot say enough about these doctors ( and Dr. Rich from Metairie, who sent us there ). Had I known what was coming would we have made this trip? I don't think so. But it turns out that we are in a very good place for avian healthcare.

LSU's veterinary school of medicine is only of about 30 in the country and only 1 of about 5 that specialize in avian and exotic pets.

When we drive to Baton Rouge we take the I-10 along Lake Ponchartrain on the elevated highways. There are pelicans and swamps and little fishing shacks to see. For variety, we took River Road home one day to look at the sugar cane fields, old plantations, the levee and plenty of refineries.

This situation has given us the opportunity to explore new places and learn a lot about LSU.

Go Tigers!
